Yes, Jewish holidays are most often celebrated by those who follow the Jewish faith. Abstaining from food and drink for about 26 hours is also meant to help foster compassion. Fasting isn't just about oneself, though. Known as the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year for Jewish people and is a time to reflect on one's sins through fasting and prayer.
